Effective date: 6/3/26 App: Strand Provided by: Ella Jackson Contact: [email protected]
Strand is built to be a calm, private place to keep your crochet and knitting projects. Your projects, photos, and notes live on your device, not on our servers — in fact, Strand has no accounts and no servers of its own. We don't show ads, we don't sell your data, we don't track you across other apps, and we don't use any third-party analytics or tracking tools.
The only time information leaves your device is when you choose to connect your Ravelry account: Strand then talks directly to Ravelry to load your patterns and search their catalog. That's explained in full below.
When you use Strand, the following is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to us:
This information stays on your device. If you delete the app, this local data is removed with it. Photos are never uploaded by Strand; they only leave your device if you choose to share them yourself using the standard iOS share sheet, at which point Apple and any app or person you share with handle them.
Strand can connect to your Ravelry account so you can see your Ravelry pattern library, search Ravelry's pattern catalog, and view pattern details. This is optional — Strand works without it.
When you connect:
If you buy a pattern, the purchase happens on Ravelry, not in Strand. Strand does not process payments, see your payment details, or receive any record of your purchase. Any purchase is governed entirely by Ravelry's terms and privacy policy.
You can disconnect your Ravelry account at any time from within Strand, which removes the stored access credential from your device.
